Security Engineer (Application Security Focus)

We’re seeking a highly motivated Security Engineer to join our growing security organization as the second dedicated member of the team, reporting directly to the CISO. This is a hands-on, highly technical role with a primary focus on Application Security , making it an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys building security programs from the ground up.

About the Role

In this position, you’ll champion new security initiatives, lead implementations, and evaluate emerging tools and technologies. You should be comfortable working independently when needed, while also partnering closely with both technical and non-technical teams to drive adoption, improve processes, and strengthen overall security posture.

You will collaborate with a 6-person IT group across Operations and Applications, participating in daily standups and contributing to cross-functional efforts. While a networking background is beneficial, this is not a networking role— security expertise, especially in AppSec and cloud (Azure), is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute application security initiatives and projects
• Implement new security tools, solutions, and technologies
• Drive incident response efforts and coordinate with internal teams and external vendors
• Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures
• Produce clear technical documentation and process guides
• Manage tool rollouts, configurations, and ongoing optimization
• Partner with engineering, IT, and business stakeholders to promote security best practices
• Conduct hands-on engineering work across cloud and application environments
• Research, evaluate, and recommend future security technologies
• Collaborate with the broader IT team in daily standups and joint projects

Qualifications

• Strong background in Application Security and hands-on technical implementation
• Experience with Azure cloud security
• Prior experience in an MSSP or similarly fast-paced, multi-client environment (preferred)
• Ability to work autonomously, take ownership, and drive initiatives forward
• Excellent communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical teams
• Networking knowledge beneficial but not required
• GIAC certification preferred (any above entry-level considered strong)
