Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part-time Histology Technician. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accessioning and processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by pathologist, ensuring high-quality results that contribute to patient diagnosis and care. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient care protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing from accessioning through staining.
• Prepare tissue samples: gross, process, embed, cut and stain for histological examination.
• Maintain accurate records of specimens and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
• Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to ensure timely processing of specimens.

Skills

• Proficient in specimen processing.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques relevant to histology.
• Familiarity with aseptic technique and its application in a laboratory setting.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with medical staff and patients.

Part time 2 days a week and vacation coverage for our full time technician with advance notice.
