Job Description

This part-time position as a Home Trainer for our Early Childhood Intervention program provides special instruction to babies and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities in areas such as cognition, communication, social skills and physical development. Our Home Trainer visits the homes of children and works with the family members on a weekly basis.

SCHEDULE: Part-Time (Hours vary upon child)

General Duties:

• Comply with all policies/procedures & represent Avenues in a professional, ethical, and positive manner.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times.
• Advocate for the well-being of those Avenues serves.
• Report any unsafe condition, accident, illness or suspected neglect/abuse immediately to supervisor or designee.
• Complete all required staff training hours annually and as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned & work assigned hours/schedule.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education or family studies. (If Bachelor's Degree is not in the majors listed, applicant can still be considered if there is documentation of 15 credit hours in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education or family studies.)
• 1 year of full-time or full-time-equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families or a university-supervised or college-supervised student practicum or teaching experience with preschool children with disabilities and their families
• 2,500 hours of documented childcare experience (babysitting, volunteer, and/or professional)
• The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Acceptable results on all pre-employment testing and background checks and all renewal testing and clearances
• The ability to comply with all physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Valid PA driver’s license, acceptable driving record
